  Cancellation of the several articles of Turkish Patent and Design Law  
 

The Turkish Constitutional Court recently cancelled Article 136/1-a,b of the Turkish Patent Decree Law no: 551 and Article 48/1-a of the Turkish Industrial Design Decree Law no: 554 due to the fact that these articles violated the Turkish Constitution.

  Sustainable Brands
A Luxury or a Necessity?

The 23rd MARQUES Annual Conference will be held in Brighton, U K from Tuesday 15th to Friday 18th September 2009 and will look at the importance of aligning brands with long term sustainable business policies.   Topics will include working with charities and environmental brands, environmental issues, transport, people & HR policies as well as food and health claims.

Publications and Website Team

 
  Class 46 Weblog  
  In November last year the Publicatons and Website Team reported on the Class 46 weblog which had been established by a group of MARQUES Members and supporters.  Following the continued success of the Class 46 Weblog and a recommendation from the Publication and Website Team the MARQUES Council have agreed to adopt the Class 46 Weblog and integrate it into the MARQUES website.

The move is expected to be completed in time for the MARQUES Annual Conference in September and will provide a valuable resource for visitors to the MARQUES website.  The Class 46 Weblog will continue to be written and moderated by the Class 46 team.

 
 
 
  New Cases Available  

MARQUES is pleased to inform its members that this months selection of cases, drawn from pan-European and national tribunals, has been added to the Case Database.   This months cases include Nokia's application for a judicial review of a decision not to seize counterfeit goods, as well Coty Prestige Lancaster Group GmbH v Marktplaats BV and Kijiji GmbH in which the failure of an internet auction site to provide details of the seller of goods may constitute a breach of the requirement under Article 6 of the E-Commerce Directive.  [http://www.marques.org/Elink?ID=0071].
