European Commission - Making IPR Work for SMEs
The European Commission have organised a one day conference entitled "Making IPR work for SMEs".    This conference challenges businesses and governments to develop better support measures, to help our SMEs to flourish and use their full creative and innovative potential. The conference will be based on the intensive work of an expert group established by the European Commission on existing best practices and on the policy recommendations proposed in their report.

Further details about the conference and online registration are available at:

  OHIM - Users' Group Meeting
The 16th meeting of the OAMI Users' Group, which provides an opportunity for user organisations to give feedback on all aspects of OHIM's operation, has taken place in Alicante. Topics on the agenda included the impact of the recession on trade mark demand, the forthcoming 40% fee reduction for Community trade marks, developments in the registered Community design, e-Business tools and a range of legal and procedural issues.

OHIM's Administrative Board recently decided to invite a number of organisations, currently on the OAMI Users Group, to act as observers at Board meetings for a two year period. David Stone (Chair of the
MARQUES Designs Team) said this decision was a step forward in transparency, but meetings like the OAMI Users' Group would continue to be important to ensure a two-way flow of information.

OHIM have posted a video interview with David Stone on their website at:
