  European Commission  
  The European Commission is currently evaluating the trade mark systems in Europe. For that purpose, DG Markt will launch a survey through the European Business Test Panel (EBTP), which is a unique tool allowing the European Commission to obtain direct feedback from businesses on Commission legislative proposals or initiatives likely to have an impact on businesses.

  World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO)  
  On the 1 October the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Officially appointed Mr Francis Gurry as Director General.   Jane Collins, Chairman of MARQUES and on behalf of the association has congratulated Mr Gurry on his appointment.  MARQUES looks forward to continuing its close relationship with WIPO.

  GI Seminar
20 November 2008, Geneva
 
  MARQUES will be holding a one day seminar on Geographical Indications on the 20th November in Geneva, further details including online registration will be available on the MARQUES website later this week.  
 
 
  Designs Seminar
4 December 2008, London
 
  MARQUES will be holding a half-day day seminar on Designs on the 4th December in London, further details including online registration will be available on the MARQUES website shortly.  
 
 
   
  Publications & Website Team  
  The MARQUES Publications & Website Team are working on a new design for the  MARQUES website.   The new design will give the website a more modern look as well as bringing improved navigation and functionality to the site.   The new site is expected to be unveiled at the MARQUES Winter Meeting in February.
