| OHIM's Budget Committee | |||
| MARQUES has signed a joint paper with BUSINESSEUROPE (The Confederation of European Business) and AIM (The European Brands Association) registering concern over the decision of OHIM's Budget Committee regarding increased payments by OHIM to the National Offices for trade mark searches. Such a payment from OHIM it is considered a diversion of funds in detriment of those users who have not requested such searches. | MARQUES has been appointed by UNCITRAL as one of the experts of the selected IP Working Group that will help UNCITRAL drafting the IP Annex to the Legislative Guide. This small IP Group will meet in January 2008 in Vienna. | |||

| Designs Team | |||
| The Designs Team has been busy updating
its Review of the First 150 Decisions on the Validity of Registered
Community Designs, first published in January 2007 and available to
MARQUES
members on the website at [http://www.marques.org/Elink?ID=0001]. The update involves a review of the
approximately 130 decisions since the first report, including Boards of
Appeal decisions. The updated report will be launched at the Barcelona
Winter Meeting in February 2008. At the request of OHIM, Team Chair, David
Stone of Howrey LLP in London will travel to Alicante on Friday 18 January
2007 to discuss the Team's findings with the OHIM Designs Department. |
