Seggiano PDO registered.

Today, the Regulation entering the Protected Designation of Origin Seggiano in the PDO-PGI Register has been published.

After objection proceedings by the United Kingdom, based on a prior national trademark registered in the UK, an agreement was reached between the UK and Italy and the Seggiano oil Consortium has at last won its Protected Designation of Origin.

The Seggiano extra-virgin olive oil is produced from the processing of the local wild cultivar, the Olivastra di Seggiano, which grows on the slopes of Monte Amiata, a mountain of volcanic origin in southern Tuscany (Grosseto province). Its geographical production area is limited to 8 municipalities only, located on the south-western part of this mountain.

In the Single Document or here you can discover the history of this delicate extra virgin oil and why its benefits extend beyond taste.
