Two more cheeses gain GI protection
The names of two more European cheeses have now been protected under European Union law:
*Commission Regulation 783/2010 of 3 September 2010 protects the names Queso de Flor de Guía, Queso de Media Flor de Guía and Queso de Guía as protected designations of origin. This is a Spanish cheese, made from a mixture of raw cow's and ewe's milk.
Commission Regulation 784/2010 protects Hessischer Handkäse or Hessischer Handkäs as a protected geographical indication. This German cheese is said to be a tasty snack, particularly when eaten with onions.
