Switzerland: 'Swissness' protection to include foodstuffs
On its website, the the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IGE) reports of further progress in the quest of improving legal protection for ‘Made in Switzerland’ designations and the Swiss Cross.
The Swiss Federal Council decided at a meeting at the end of March that "... the legislation project 'Swissness' should also include food products thereby defining the principles that are to be implemented in the legislative message. The 'Swissness' amendments aim to strengthen the protection of 'Switzerland' and the Swiss cross as an indication of source, both domestically and abroad, thus maintaining the value of the Swiss label for the future."
